· TikTok Genocide (tiktokgenocide.com)

Moment after Al Mawasi massacre, one of the deadliest Israeli attacks [Original post] At least 90 Palestinians were killed and nearly 300 injured in one of the most deadly Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip in weeks. The Israeli strike targeted the designated “safe zone” of Al-Mawasi in Khan Younis in southern Gaza just days after the Isreali military ordered the forced displacement of around 300,000 Palestinians from northern Gaza. The UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) reported “horrific scenes” at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis following the attack. “Visiting the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis yesterday, I witnessed some of the most horrific scenes I have seen in my nine months in Gaza,” Scott Anderson, Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator and Director of UNRWA Affairs in Gaza, said in a statement. In recent weeks, the Israeli military has expanded its immediate displacement orders to several areas of the Gaza Strip, pushing Palestinians into the “humanitarian zone” of Al-Mawasi. The so-called “safe zone,” however, has repeatedly been targeted by Israeli attacks. The Israeli army claimed that the latest attack targeted senior commanders of Gaza’s ruling group. “The Israeli allegations are nonsense and they aim to justify the horrifying massacre. All the martyrs are civilians and what happened was a grave escalation of the war of genocide, backed by the American support and world silence,” the group stated. Israeli forces invade a house in the village of Umm Safa, West Bank [Original post] Umm Safa (أم صفا) today, a military force invades a house in the village. The soldiers take over the roof, lock the family in one of the rooms at gunpoint, and throw a stun grenade from the roof at the activists that came to document the event. Source and photo: Avishay Mohar. [Tags: Homes, Settlement, Threat, Soldiers and Settlers, Machine Gun, Grenade, Agriculture, Home Invasion, Living conditions, Property, Land theft, Summary execution] [Found by: Mistaclim] [Location: West Bank > Ramallah > Umm Safa] [Archivist Notes] Location and Context: Umm Safa is a village in the Ramallah district of the West Bank, facing severe land seizure by Israeli settlers and military forces. Land Seizure: Israeli settlers, backed by the army, have been expropriating private lands from the village, leveling and destroying agricultural areas, including olive and grape trees. Settlers brought bulldozers to prepare the land for illegal settlement expansion on Jabal al-Ras and Abu Tantur hills. Impact on Residents: The village has been under constant attacks from settlers and the Israeli army, with settler violence intensifying, especially since 2023. Settlers have fired live bullets at homes, disrupted daily life, and attacked the local school during school hours. Multiple Palestinian youths, including Mohammed al-Bayed and Abdul Jiwad Salah, were killed while resisting the settler invasions. Protests and Suppression: Villagers, alongside International or Jewish anti-sionist activists, protested the land seizures. These protests have been met with violent suppression by Israeli forces, using tear gas and stun grenades. Soldiers have destroyed monuments dedicated to villagers killed by the army, further intensifying tensions. International Appeal: The people and council of Umm Safa are appealing to the international community for solidarity and intervention, calling for action to stop the ongoing land theft, harassment, and displacement. Ongoing Attacks: The village has experienced regular invasions and attacks, with settlers and soldiers harassing residents, cutting water supplies, and storming homes, leading to a growing humanitarian crisis. Appeals for Justice: Residents and solidarity activists have been persistently calling for international attention and justice, documenting these ongoing attacks and human rights violations. Chronological summary of the RECENT events in Umm Safa January 2024 January 2: Israeli settlers, protected by the military, began bulldozing land in the Jabal al-Ras area of Umm Safa, initiating large-scale land theft aimed at settlement expansion. January 9: Palestinian man, Ameed Ibrahim Samih Jayousi (31), was killed by Israeli forces. His body was reportedly taken by settlers from a Palestinian ambulance near Umm Safa. January 13: Israeli anti-apartheid activists visited Umm Safa as attacks from settlers and Israeli military forces increased. January 20: Israeli forces suppressed Palestinian farmers and tried to prevent them from reaching their lands. Villagers, along with activists, planted olive trees on private lands, but the army uprooted them and fired tear gas at those present. February 2024 February 18: Israeli forces kidnapped a young Palestinian man, Muhammad Samih Karaja, after raiding his house in Umm Safa. May 25: Every Friday, settlers from Ateret settlement have invaded the village’s lands, protected by the army. During this specific Friday, the army not only protected the settlers but also shot stun grenades and gas bombs into the village, setting a field on fire. July 2024 July 12: Israeli forces invaded a house in the village, took over the roof, and threw stun grenades at activists documenting the invasion. September 2024 September 9: Israeli bulldozers demolished approximately 200,000 m² of cultivated land in the Jabal al-Ras region, including olive and grape trees. Settlers and soldiers invaded the village, intensifying land destruction and harassment. September 11: Villagers of Umm Safa issued an urgent appeal to the international community, highlighting the continuous attacks by Israeli settlers and soldiers, with blockades cutting off access points to the village and daily harassment. They warned of impending displacement and ethnic cleansing due to the rapid settlement expansion. September 14: Israeli forces suppressed a peaceful anti-settlement protest march in Umm Safa with tear gas. Villagers and activists were demonstrating against the ongoing land seizures by settlers. September 15: Settlers continued leveling land just meters away from homes. Israeli forces again used stun grenades and tear gas to disperse demonstrators protesting the theft of 123.5 acres of land by settlers. Ongoing Attacks and Resistance: Throughout 2024, Umm Safa has been subjected to repeated attacks, with settlers frequently raiding homes, cutting water supplies, and threatening residents. The Israeli military has protected these settlers, often using force to suppress protests from the villagers. Villagers have tried to resist the settler takeovers by protesting, planting trees on their land, and collaborating with activists, but their efforts have been violently suppressed by Israeli forces. Moazzaz Obayat recounts his arrest and brutal torture [Original post] “I am still living in the prison. I have the prison inside me.” Muazzaz Abayat says he was beaten, abused, tortured, starved and deprived of water during the nearly nine months he spent in Israeli prisons [Tags: Prisoner Abuse, Beatings, Blindfold, Gas, Arrest, Starvation, Unlawful detention, Dehumanization, Terror, Human Dignity, Mental Health, Medical neglect, Psychological torture, Dehydration, Handcuffed] [Found by: Middle East Eye] [Location: West Bank > 48 Palestine > Negev > Gush Etzion Detention Center > Ketziot Prison > Ofer prison] [Archivist Notes] On 26 October 2023 at 2:30 am . Moazzaz Obayat, a 39-year-old Palestinian bodybuilder arrested without charges, during a violent raid storming his house, in front of his 4 children and his pregant woman. He held under administrative detention, which allows detention without formal charges. He was detained in the Ofer Negev Prison. On July 10, 2024 , he is released showing signs of severe medical neglect and torture, revealing the inhumane conditions imposed on Palestinian prisoners by the Israeli occupation. On October 16, 2024 , three months after his released, he was re-abducted, at dawn , during a raid by the Israely soldiers in Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, after storming his home. He was obviously subject of sever abuses during his detention : Obayat, once weighing 109kg of muscle, lost over half his body weight and is now emaciated, unable to walk unaided. The video footage of Abayat’s frail state upon release has spread widely on Arab social media, but has seen little coverage in Western media. Impact on his mental health The first days, Obayat no longer recognizes his father or the details of his past life. His wife, Noor, and mother collapsed upon seeing him leave jail in a broken state. he expressed the feeling of never being able to come back to life, of being mentally imprisoned for life. His testimony shed significant light on the systematic abuse of detainees he reports being beaten, tortured, starved, and deprived of water throughout his imprisonment. his leg and his hans were broken in detention and left untreated. he describes being beaten while naked, losing consciousness after being hit with an iron bar. he describes his experience in the Negev prison as particularly harsh: freezing conditions, insufficient water, and minimal, poor-quality food. he states that prisoners were subjected to epidemics like scabies due to poor hygiene and limited showers. he recounts brutal physical abuse, including being hit and "search" in private parts with iron stick (in Ofer Prison) "We almost died," he says, in an iron caravan where he remembers inhaling gas and feeling a lack of oxygen (In Gush Etzion Detention center). A place where, he later describes, they beat them "with iron clubs until their heads, feet and hands were covered in blood. he was the witness of the murder of a friend (or a brother) Thayer Abu Asab, in prison for 18 years, since 2005, killed in "room 6", after being beaten during one hour with iron sticks on his head.(Israeli authorities confirmed was beaten to death by 19 guards on 18 November 2023) "He lay in the room for an hour, they killed him and they didn't call an ambulance or treat him." On December 4, during a violent interrogation, while sitting in a chair with his legs and arms chained behind his back, "I was given a beating that no human being can imagine." A Shin Bet (Israeli internal intelligence) officer asked him: "Are you with us or with them?", referring to Israel or Hamas."I answered honestly: 'I'm not on any side, I'm a civilian. You invaded my house and arrested me.' He didn't like what I said. He left the office and a group of three to five men came in and started beating me. They hit me with a metal baton on the head, stomach and sensitive areas of the body, on the tendons, until I lost consciousness ," he details. he adds, that, in Ofer Detention camp, access to food, hygiene or drinking water was also extremely limited : “One shower every three months,” “one litre of water for ten people in a room,” a bathroom “without running water.” As for electricity, only three hours a day, and a meal of “ten or twelve beans with a bit of cabbage” from breakfast to dinner. According to him, 2000 of the 3000 prisoners in Ofer Prison suffers od chronicle scabies. Perpetrators He names "Captain Salem, head of Nablus area, Captain Dahari (nicknamed Abu Jameel), Captain Ibri for the Gush Etzion detention center. He names the Keter unit in Ofer Prison (the worst reputation detention center, like Guantanamo or Abu Graib), under the direction of Yusuf Khnafis (nicknamed Abu Shadi), who gave the torture orders. The Prisoners Club Statement Ramallah, 16-10-2024, WAFA- The Palestinian Prisoners' Club (PPC) held the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for the life of detainee Moaz Ebayat (37 years) from Bethlehem, who was re-arrested at dawn today, three months after his release, in a difficult and shocking health condition due to the torture he was subjected to during his 9-month administrative detention. He was released at the time from the Negev prison, which was and still is the most prominent prison witnessing torture crimes. According to the family of the detainee, Abayat, the occupation forces stormed his house at two in the morning, and when he was taken out of the house, he was beaten. (...)The Prisoners Club confirmed that Abayat is still** undergoing treatment since his release, and he needs continuous health follow-up.** He is one of thousands of detainees in the occupation prisons who are facing crimes of unprecedented level. It is worth noting that he is a former detainee who was arrested three times, and he is married and the father of five children. He did not suffer from any health problems before his previous arrest. The Prisoners Club renewed its call to international human rights institutions to restore their necessary role for which they were created, and to put an end to the ongoing genocide and the horrific crimes to which our people are being subjected, including detainees in the occupation’s prisons and camps, which have been transformed into arenas for the crime of torture since the beginning of the war of extermination, “while reaffirming that everything we are witnessing today are fixed and systematic crimes practiced by the occupation over many decades, but the only variable is the intensity and level of these crimes.” Broader Issue: Over 3,500 Palestinians are currently held under administrative detention in Israeli prisons, many from the West Bank. Human rights groups and Palestinian organizations claim that the conditions Abayat faced are common among Palestinian detainees. International Response: Israeli authorities deny the claims of abuse, stating that Obayat received medical care according to protocol. Human rights groups report restricted access to Israeli prisons, limiting information on prisoners' conditions. Obayat urges the international community to investigate Palestinian prison conditions and support his people, highlighting the lack of legal representation and international protection for detainees. source 1 source 2 source 3 ONG investigation In its August report, Welcome to Hell: The Israeli Prison System as a Network of Torture Camps' , the Israeli human rights organisation B'Tselem collects the testimonies of 55 released prisoners and relatives of inmates who point out the mistreatment to which Palestinian prisoners are subjected. A compound Israeli crime like human shield, documented by Euro-Med Monitor in Gaza City [Original post] The Israeli army shot them with bullets and bombs, used them as human shields in a combat zone, then laid the injured mother on the ground and ran over her with a tank.. A compound crime documented by Euro-Med Monitor in #Gaza City. [Tags: Prisoner Abuse, Threat, Merkava Tank, Bombs, Murder, Human Shield, Arrest, Living conditions, Unlawful detention, Dehumanization, Human Dignity] [Found by: Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor] [Location: Gaza City] [Archivist Notes] Human Shields The use of civilians to protect combatants or military objectives from attack. This practice is explicitly prohibited under international humanitarian law (IHL) as per the Fourth Geneva Convention. Use of Human Shields in Israeli Military Practices Depending on whether the IDF is in Gaza or the West Bank, the methods used differ A. The “Mosquito Protocol” (2024) A term reportedly used by the IDF to describe the practice of sending Palestinian detainees into potentially dangerous situations to safeguard soldiers during military operations. Palestinian civilians are arrested, detained and allegedly used as “human shields” by Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to search tunnels and inspect potentially booby-trapped locations during the Israeli ground invasion in Gaza. Civilians referred to as "shawishim," are sent into high-risk areas before IDF soldiers. These Operations are conducted in various parts of the Gaza Strip, including Rafah. IDF soldiers arrest Palestinian civilians, some as young as 16 and others elderly, are dressed in IDF uniforms, bound, and equipped with cameras to explore dangerous areas. Recent investigations and developments (2024) ~ July and February 2024: Reports emerged of Palestinians being coerced into entering booby-trapped buildings or tunnels in Gaza. ~ August 13, 2024 (Haaretz): Allegations from soldiers, commanders, and Palestinian detainees revealed that civilians, including minors, were used to inspect hazardous tunnels and buildings. Israeli leftist newspaper "Haaretz" Investigation IDF Allegedly Uses Palestinian Civilians as Human Shields in Gaza Operations by the Reporters: Yaniv Kubovich, Michael Hauser Tov on August 13, 2024. ~ October 21, 2024 (The Guardian): Whistleblower testimonies and reports highlighted systematic practices in Gaza, including tying civilians, forcing them to wear IDF uniforms, and using them for reconnaissance or shield tasks. ~ October 24, 2024 (CNN): The "Mosquito Protocol" involved forcing Palestinian detainees to enter danger zones. Reports included physical abuse and coercion, with some detainees subjected to beatings or threats. Key Practices and Allegations: ~ IDF soldiers abduct Palestinians included minors, elderly individuals, and detainees? in order to force them to: ~ Enter buildings and tunnels to check for explosives or in Gaza Strip, including Rafah, Khan Younis, Shuja’iya, and Jabaliya. ~ Perform reconnaissance and operate cameras. ~ Serve as shields during gunfire or door-knocking procedures. Soldiers and officers allegedly received orders to implement these tactics, with some expressing moral opposition. Civilians were often handcuffed, blindfolded, or dressed in IDF uniforms. IDF units use coercion involved physical abuse, threats, and psychological pressure. Some soldiers expressed moral opposition, describing the practice as mimicking tactics of organizations like Hamas. The Military Justifications is the safety of Soldiers (Commanders prioritized minimizing risks to Israeli troops, even at the expense of Palestinian civilians) and the Operational Efficiency (Familiarity with local areas made Palestinian civilians useful for identifying threats or navigating buildings). Evidence Supporting Allegations Palestinian detainees and IDF soldiers provided consistent accounts of coercion and abuse. Photographs and Video Footage showed bound civilians being guarded by IDF soldiers. Reports of civilians dressed in military gear with attached cameras for reconnaissance. Human Rights Documentation: Organizations like Breaking the Silence, Middle East Human Right Monitor, .. highlighted the systematic nature of these practices. The investigation includes first-hand soldier testimonies, video footage aired on Al Jazeera, and reports of systematic practices. Despite the IDF’s official denial, which states that such actions are against military regulations, these findings raise significant concerns about violations of humanitarian and legal standards. Soldier Concerns: Testimonies from DIF soldiers and commanders indicate ethical or legal discomfort with the practice, which some soldiers equate to endangering civilians for military advantage. They confronted their commanders about International laws but the answer was the following : "It is better that they explode and not the IDF soldiers" because their live is less important than IDF lives. In one reported case, a 16 y/O Palestinian was kept for several days, given combat rations, and used as humand shield by soldiers to explore a house. He was later released near a checkpoint confirming for the IDF whitnesses htat he was not involved in terrorism but just a civilian. Leadership Knowledge and Military Responses: Allegations that senior officials, including IDF Chief of Staff Herzl Halevi and Southern Command Maj. Gen. Yaron Finkelman, were aware of the practice. US Reaction: U.S. State Department spokesperson Vedant Patel expressed outrage, stating that the IDF’s actions in the footage “do not reflect IDF values” and are under investigation. B. Neighbor Procedure/Early Warning Procedure: A specific tactic used by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), primarily in the West Bank , where civilians (often neighbors) are asked to communicate with suspects or perform tasks such as clearing buildings. Israeli Military Justifications ~ The military argues that the practice reduces casualties on both sides by avoiding direct confrontations. ~ The IDF pretend civilians are not coerced and face little to no danger, as evidenced by the provision of protective measures like bulletproof vests. ~ Local civilians are believed to be better suited to communicate with suspects and navigate complex environments. ~ The presence of civilians supposedly reduces hostility from suspects, facilitating safer surrenders. Criticism and Legal Challenges The practice breaches the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits forcing protected persons to assist an occupying force. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit denies approving civilian use in dangerous military operations and claims the reported incidents are under review. The continuation of the practice after HCJ rulings indicates weak enforcement of judicial decisions within the military.Israel faces backlash for the practice, which undermines its international standing and raises questions about its adherence to IHL.Despite legal bans, reports of continued use highlight a lack of accountability within the IDF. Few soldiers are prosecuted, and penalties remain minimal. Disproportionate Risks & ethical concern: The procedure shifts the burden of danger from soldiers to civilians, violating the principle of proportionality under IHL.The procedure exposes civilians to potential harm, even when “voluntary,” and undermines the principle of distinction in IHL.Both victims and soldiers involved in these operations experience long-term trauma. The use of human shields continues to be condemned by international organizations like Btselem and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Documented Cases and Patterns Testimonies reveal that even minors and women were coerced or threatened into participating.Despite the 2005 HCJ ruling, instances of human shield usage have been reported in subsequent military operations. Case of Bilal (Testimony): A child was sent into a house to check for a suspect, showcasing the direct harm and coercion involved. Consequences Chronology of events Since October 2023 Gaza Israeli soldier Yosef Scewekeh from the steel cat combat engineering corps showing how they use Palestinian civilians as human shields in Gaza A video shows Israeli soldiers using a blindfolded Palestinian detainee as a human shield in the West Bank. He is seated on the ground w/ vehicles behind him using him as a shield as an Israeli soldier aim his rifle towards Palestinians May 2024: On May 24, Lt. Amit Nechmya, the Latak platoon commander is seen ordering an elderly man with a partially covered face to move to an unknown location in Rafah. The video was recorded by Sgt Camisa. On October 2024 “Really a nice ending”,This is what Mujinda wrote, commenting on the kidnapping of Palestinians in the West Bank. Before October 2023 Israeli soldiers forced Nidal, 9, Karam, 11, Ahmad, 2 & Mohammad, 2 to stand in front of Israeli military vehicles while Israeli forces fired tear gas canisters, stun grenades & live ammunition at Palestinians confronting the soldiers in Ramallah dci-palestine.org/israeli_forces… Israeli forces have used at least five Palestinian children as human shields in the first part of 2023, according to documentation collected by DCIP. March 2023: Anas al-Khalili from Nablus. “I was used as a human shield by Israeli forces. They handcuffed me & started shooting from behind me. While I was handcuffed, they pushed me down the stairs, they stayed behind me & were shooting at the men… 9 March 2018 Israel soldiers detained ‘Abd a-Rahim Gheith in Jericho & ordered him out the car, handcuffed him & made him sit on the road for 2hrs. Gheith was then used as a human shied, & was hit by stones thrown at the soldiers. Video evidence: 2014 (Operation Protective Edge): Documented cases of Palestinians being used as human shields despite the HCJ's ban. July-Aug 2014: “Israeli soldiers handcuffed & blindfolded us...they made us stand by the windows as protective shields for them. There was gunfire all around us. They made us stand by the window for 9 hours. We were their shields.” - Ramadan Qudeih July-August 2014: “They refused to let us out….I asked for am ambulance for my sister, who fainted, they refused. They held us to protect themselves. -Nazeeha al-Najjar (7:30) July-August 2014: "I was taken prisoner, handcuffed & walked almost at gun point…he made me walk forward and he was protected by me…if any shots had been fired, they’d have hit me. He [the israeli soldier] was right behind me. "The Committee on the Rights of the Child express deep concern about the continuous use of Palestinian children as human shields and informants. 14 such cases have been reported from January 2010 to 31 March 2013 only." The Goldstone Report documented many cases in which the Israeli military used Palestinians as human shields in the 2008-9 war on Gaza, including Majdi Abd Rabbo, Abbas Ahmad Ibrahim Halawa, Mahmoud Abd Rabbo al-Ajrami and others. See p. 218-230 documents-dds-ny.un.org/doc/UNDOC/GEN/… February 2009: “the officers said I wouldn’t see my family unless i did it…he pushed me w/his weapon, held me by my neck & said go." -Magdy Rabbo. [He had to go back & forth between Israeli soldiers & hamas fighers]. The IDF used Magdy as a human shied. February 2009: “The Israelis would send us ahead...they made me dig holes in the wall & in the houses first to check in case they were booby trapped. We were put in front so in case there was gunfire, we would be [hit].” -Rabbi Abde Rabi, Gaza resident. 2008-2009 (Operation Cast Lead) & 2014 (Operation Protective Edge): Documented cases of Palestinians being used as human shields despite the HCJ's ban. The HCJ fully outlaws the use of civilians in military operations, ruling it as a violation of IHL. Despite this, incidents of the practice persist. November 2002: The HCJ temporarily bans the use of civilians as human shields but allows the procedure under specific conditions, such as explicit consent and minimal danger. , 2002: During the Second Intifada, the "Neighbor Procedure" results in the death of a Palestinian civilian, leading to petitions by human rights organizations to Israel’s High Court of Justice (HCJ). IDF forced Palestinians to walk through buildings suspected to be booby-trapped. it ordered them to enter certain areas before the combat forces...the army used residents as a “human shield” to serve as a shield against attack on those forces (p.230) documents-dds-ny.un.org/doc/UNDOC/GEN/… the Israeli army took over Hussein Aladi’s home, established an Israeli military base on the roof. For 3 months, they fired every day from there. The army insisted family always remain in the house, to protect the Israeli soldiers in it. Start of Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. A Palestinian shop owner being used as a human shield by the Israeli troop in Dura [Original post] Video shows a Palestinian shop owner being used as a human shield by the IOF in Dura. [Tags: Prisoner Abuse, Threat, Human Shield, Arrest, Unlawful detention, Dehumanization, Human Dignity] [Found by: @propandco] [Location: West Bank > Dura > Al-Khalil/Hebron] [Archivist Notes] Human Shields The use of civilians to protect combatants or military objectives from attack. The use of Palestinian civilians as human shields during military operations becomes an observed practice. Palestinian Ambassador to the UK says Israel is committing Educide in Gaza because it's the lifeblood of Palestinian society [Original post] Palestinian Ambassador to the UK says Israel is committing Educide in Gaza Palestine has one of the highest literacy rates in the world and nearly the highest PHD per capita graduate rates. This is why Israel has strategically destroyed every single university in Gaza, posting their war crimes with joy on social media. [Tags: Schools, Gleeful Destruction, Schools, Caterpillar D9, Explosives, Bombs, Bulldozer, Heritage and culture, Cultural Cleansing, Educide, Palestinian art & culture] [Found by: @Kahlissee] [Location: Gaza] [Archivist Notes] The Israeli forces have systematically caused severe destruction to Gaza's education sector, with many universities either destroyed or repurposed as shelters for displaced families. This will have long-lasting effects on Gaza's 90,000 students and the region's educational future. Below are the universities affected: 1. Islamic University of Gaza Founded in 1978, over 17,000 students as of 2023 Destruction : Destroyed on 10 October ; accused by Israel of producing weapons without any evidence. Previously hit in 2008-2009 and 2014. Major Asaf Fred, who was later in Rafah & a commander in IDF’s 460 Brigade, admits to the destruction of IUG university in Gaza, a court & Rimal neighborhood without any military objectives . He also called for the destruction of Amalekite cities + “‘no good arabs” On December 19 he posts a long Genocidal justification. Excerpt : “Yes, this is how you destroy an enemy: Not only by killing its soldiers but also by destroying its symbols…..The destruction of the enemy's national symbols is a clear declaration that the games are over, and we want to win." On March 1, he shares a satellite imagery of Younis: “Amazing! This is how it should be done to all the Amalekite cities. (Khan Yunis, during the IDF maneuver)” In November 5, 2024, some remaining buildings of this University were used as military base by Israeli troops. "My alma mater @IUGAZA med school is now a military point in the middle of Gaza. This IOF soldier is bragging about intentionally causing a delay in the start of the academic year because of occupying it and destroying its teaching hospital!" writes on X @OsaidesserMD Palestinian Academic global surgeon 2.Al-Azhar University Founded in 1991 during the First Intifada, 17,000 students and 12 faculties at its peak. Destruction: Bombed by aistrikes on 6 November , heavily damaging the campus. And blowed up on December 7. "On Shabbat, we loaded the mines, and I signed off on the shipment with a modification due to the sanctity of Shabbat,” First Master Sergeant David Zoldan, the operational officer of Company A of Israel’s 749 Battalion wrote in a Facebook post on December 20. “A few days later, we assembled them and booby-trapped one of Gaza’s symbols of the future—Al-Azhar University in the northern part of the strip—and blew it up.” December 2023: Company A of the 749 Battalion was tasked with rigging up the south Gaza City campus of Al-Azhar University with explosives and detonating them, reducing Gaza’s second-largest university to rubble. On the footage, we can heard soldiers said "Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined” when they watch the powerful explosion. The mining and detonation of the University was released on his Social netework by the IDF soldiers of the 749 Combat Engineering Corps invluding : David Zolden, Operational Officer Arthur Davidov Rafael Ben Ishay Maya Radoszkowicz Arik Tedler Amit Yagodeev Saar Hirshoren Natvie Korkus Yossi Nahari Roman Dyachenko Daniel Bedoya Yehuda Efraim Nathan Emergui Eli Biton Amit Viner Rony Ifrach Omri Felous Royi Wickes Netanel Levine Yahav Hoffmann Yahav Abr Dor Osher Adib In the following picture, Liad Ohayon, of Moroccan origin, serving in the Givati Brigade's Shaked Battalion celebrated the completion of their military service on the Al-Azhar University campus, which had been used as a military base and was subsequently detonated upon their withdrawal. Al-Quds Open University Founded IN 1991 by the PLO, it's the largest non-campus university with 60,000 students across the West Bank and Gaza. Occupation : Turned into military barracks Destruction : bombed on 15 November 3. Al-Israa University Founded in 2014 (Gaza's youngest university) Occupation : Its main building was occupied for 70 days by Israeli soldiers and Destruction 17 January 2024 by a massive Blowing up (355 explosives) During a press conference on Thursday, a U.S. State Department Spokesperson was asked if Israa University was a legitimate target. To this, spokesperson Matthew Miller said, “I don’t have independent information to verify that. But I can say that we continue to urge Israel to avoid damage to critical infrastructure – that would, of course, include universities – and to ensure the protection of humanitarian and medical sites.” According to Itai Blumenthal (2024, 08:14 on March 11), it seems that the Brigadier General Hiram authorized the demolition of the Al Asraa University building in the south of Gaza City on the grounds that tunnels were dug under the building where terrorists were hiding. Since it is a sensitive building, Brigadier General Hiram was supposed to get permission in advance from the commander of the Southern Command. Two months later, the commander of the Southern Command recorded the "note" to the commander of Division 99 with the approval of Chief of Staff Halevi. 4. Palestine Technical College Founded in 1993 in Deir el-Balah, 1,800 students Now a shelter for displaced Palestinians. 5. University College of Applied Sciences (UCAS) Founded in 1998 in Gaza City. 8,500 students in 2023 Had a start-up incubator for entrepreneurs.Shelled on 22 January while sheltering displaced families. In May 2024, a picture of an IDF soldier (Tair Glisko. 424th Battalion, Givati Brigade) is released on the social media and is investigated by Younis Tirawi. Israel’s biggest newspaper, Yedioth Ahronot, reports this investigation and the response of Israel military: “This is a serious incident… an investigation was opened by the military police. The incident at the university is also being investigated at the senior levels”. This autodafe was confirmed by Jake Godin in a OSINT investigation 8. Gaza University Founded in 2006. 10 Faculties including law, education, and computer sciences. Destroyed by an airstrike in December. 9. Hassan II University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences Established in 1992 in Beit Hanoun with Moroccan support Destroyed by Israeli forces in December. 10. Dar al-Kalima University: Gaza Training Centre Founded in 2020, Providing arts training and therapy for trauma-affected children. Destroyed during Easter Holy Week in late March. The destruction of these institutions highlights the severe disruption to Gaza's education system, impacting thousands of students and faculty and hampering educational and cultural development for future generations. Eight people were injured in a drone bombing targeting the University College of Applied Sciences, which houses displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Yunis Source Letter from Palestinian Universities to students and faculty in Gaza Solidarity Encampments in US academic institutions This letter was released the 1st May 2024. "In a moment of great darkness, your protests erupt and give hope for humanity that justice is not an abstract concept but a continuous struggle that connects us all. Your values are emancipating the university from structural racism and complicity with power and colonialism. The situation in Palestine has reached increased genocidal levels, marked by the mass targeting of Palestinian life by killing and displacement; the destroying of social, cultural, and all educational institutions; and the aim to reduce Palestinians to bare life with no political and collective future. You are leaders in the call for justice with your bodies on your university campuses and in the streets, speaking truth and justice loud and clear. You stand for the courage that is needed to take action strongly for justice and freedom and determinedly against systems of genocide and racism. We know the risks you are taking in face of the repressive measures that are taken against university spaces built on challenging the powers benefitting from silence. At a time when the voices of the oppressed are intentionally silenced, your solidarity serves as a beacon of hope. Your actions are a resounding message that injustice and oppression will not be tolerated. We draw inspiration from the courage of those who refuse and resist the continuing injustices of settler colonialism and military occupation. Civil Defense is a body protected according to international law. Why is it being targeted? [Original post] Civil Defense is a body protected according to international law. Why is it being targeted? [Tags: Threat, Blocking Ambulances, Rescue, Living conditions, Terror, Healthcare workers, Healthcare System, Drone strike, Artillery shelling] [Found by: Eye on Palestine, Mohammed Asad] [Location: Gaza] [Archivist Notes] Documenting a systematic pattern of targeting Civil Defense personnel both while working, and in their homes with their families. As of September 8th, 2024, 83 members of Gaza's Civil Defense have been killed , with the most recent being Colonel Mohamed Morsi, Deputy Director of Civil Defense in northern Gaza, who was martyred with a number of his family members after their home in Jabalia camp was bombed. Chronology On October 23, after 21 days of siege, shelling, massacres, and constant threat on all the health system and the population, the civil defense in northern Gaza has confirmed in a press conference that the entire North Governorate is no longer able to provide humanitarian services. All hospitals, including Indonesian, Al-Awda, and Kamal Adwan, are completely besieged. Many civilians remain trapped in their homes in Jabalia, Beit Lahia, and Beit Hanoun. Civil defense vehicles have been directly targeted, with the only vehicle in the North destroyed by Israeli artillery. The civil defense holds the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the lives of civilians and the kidnapping of their teams, condemning these actions as violations of humanitarian, ethical, and legal principles. On October 19, a statement of the Human Rights Council Special Rapporteurs already lists a large number of attacks on the health system, aid and health workers (entitled "Gaza: UN experts decry bombing of hospitals and schools as crimes against humanity, call for prevention of genocide") "The UN experts called for the protection of all humanitarian workers, after the World Health Organization (WHO) documented more than 136 attacks on health care services in the occupied Palestinian territory, including 59 attacks on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the death of at least 16 health workers since the beginning of hostilities on 7 October. Israeli bombardment on Gaza has also killed 15 staff of the United Nations Refugee Works Agency (UNRWA) and four Palestine Red Crescent paramedics in an ambulance. An ambulance driver of Magen David Adom in Israel lost his life while driving to treat injured people" Relevant articles: "Israeli attacks kill at least 82 civil defense personnel, injure hundreds in Gaza since Oct. 7, agency says" "An Israeli airstrike in northern Gaza has killed a senior aid official and four members of his family. His civil defense group fights fires and rescues people trapped in rubble. So why was he attacked?" "What does it mean to be a Civil Defense worker in Gaza?" "At least 82 Palestinian civil Defense personnel have been killed by the Israelis since October" Israel Barring Aid Groups and Medical Specialists from Gaza The World Health Organization (WHO) has accused Israel of preventing medical specialists from entering Gaza to assist local clinics. Since August 2024, eight organizations and over 50 specialists have been affected by this blockade, limiting essential medical services and psychological support for healthcare workers. Notably, Israeli authorities denied entry to Glia and the Palestinian American Medical Association, marking the first time entire aid organizations have been barred from Gaza.
