Aileen’s is waking up to the screams of her mother shouting, “Amir, Amir, Amir” for her martyred brother and being carried into an ambulance with her stomach ripped open. #Gaza Aileen’s family was attacked in the middle of the night, killing her father, brother Amir, grandfather, uncle, and his family. The 7 year old was admitted to the ICU for internal bleeding and abdominal surgery. After leaving the hospital her physical movement was limited, she couldnt eat, and had deep psychological wounds, just as impactful as the giant scar down her belly. On the day of the attack, back in March, Aileen was excited to go shopping for Eid clothes. She recently told her mother, “Mom, this Ramadan we had suhoor together, me, you, and dad. Next year it’ll just be you and me having suhoor.” This is what Aileen will remember from what should have been a joyous holiday.
