In front of a tiny mirror, my colleague Dr. Saeed Ma’rouf, from my hometown Beit Lahia, shaves, and I try to joke with him, knowing that words won’t ease his pain, but they might bring him a fleeting smile. And again, when they left him in the south, separated from his family still trapped in the north, missing the voices and touch of his children.
